SUCCESS STORIES

North East Rottweiler Rescue has many wonderful stories about the dogs that have been adopted over the years. We have created this page to share recent successes all these great dogs have had. Enjoy!!

Linus #755 was adopted by Jane & Carl of North Reading, MA - update 7/4/11

Linus was diagnosed with cancer back in February 2010. He was diagnosed with a metastatic nerve sheath tumor and extraskeletal chondrosarcoma, two separate tumors within one mass. At the time they thought they got clean margins but the cancer had spread to his lungs. They amputated his right front leg and he’s been doing chemo treatments since April 2010. On June 21, 2011 we got the news that the cancer had spread further in his lungs, we decided that the quality of life was far better than anymore chemo treatments. At the time of his diagnosis we were given 2-4 months; 17 months later he’s still with us. I feel truly blessed to have had him this long, and just want to say thank you to all the many dedicated hard working volunteers at NERR&R for doing such a great job with such a wonderful breed and for bringing Linus into our life for all these years

Luke #1465 was adopted by Jeanette & Bryan of Portland, ME

Me, Bryan & Jake are so enjoying our new family member, Luke, whom we adopted on December 3, 2010. He is such a beautiful, loving boy who wants nothing more than to be with his family, snuggle, play, and just be a part of things. He loves physical contact with us and will lie on the floor draped over our laps while he gets his belly rubbed. He has met so many of the people in our lives and they are all struck by his warmth, kind nature, and good looks. We are amazed at his gentleness. He is actually very polite and is also remarkably smart. He learns things so fast. In fact, it took him just a few days to learn our names and it is clear that he understands a lot of what we say to him--he is very responsive to commands. He thoroughly enjoys his walks, playing with us in the back yard with his frisbee, and he especially loves to go for runs with Bryan around Back Cove here in Portland where we live. We didn't think he'd be able to handle to 3.5 mile jog, but on the first try, he did this with ease and had energy to spare afterward, too! Now, when he sees Bryan getting his running gear on, he gets all excited! He is such a love sponge and he is the perfect fit for our family. He bonded with us very quickly as we did with him. Here are two pictures of him, one of Luke standing in our yard waiting attentively for Jake to throw him another snowball (he loves to play catch with snowballs and can't seem to get enough of it); the other was taken on Christmas morning when he got his deer antler chew bone. He is gorgeous, isn't he? We have been calling him "Lukey the Christmas dog"--he has been such a gift to us!

Moxie #782 was adopted by Dori (NERR&R volunteer) & Mo of Hinsdale, NH

August 2009 celebrates the ninth anniversary of our adoption of our fabulous girl. Mox has been the perfect dog—loving, smart, energetic, and charming. A talented dog, she has titles in obedience, Rally, and drafting. She’s still going strong, so she and I are pursuing Utility. I hope for one, perhaps two, more drafting titles this fall. Her dad and I are very proud of our Moo - UCDX North East’s Full of Moxie CDX, RE, NEDDC-NDD, TT, CGC, TDI, HIC

Sassy #1215 was adopted by Shannon & Scott of Clinton, CT

This is Sassy (Sasafrass). She will be 7 in Oct. and we adopted her 6 years ago this month (May 2009). She is an awesome dog and has been a welcome addition to our family. Her name fits her well as she loves to play and is very "sassy".

Linus #755 was adopted by Jane & Carl of North Reading, MA

Linus was adopted on 6/27/2000 after being fostered for a few weeks; we can’t believe how fast the years have gone by. He was a special selection made by our female rottie Sheba who passed away from a sudden stroke on 8/3/02 at the age of 14. Since that time he has been my constant companion, I really don’t know what we would have done if we didn’t have him in our life when we lost our beloved Sheba of ten years. There isn’t any place I go that Linus isn’t with me; he even manages to spend the winters in Florida with his two cats in the warm sunshine instead of being up north in the cold, he’s definitely a mama’s boy. He loves to go fishing at night with his Dad and ends up chasing more fish in the water and playing with them than his Dad actually manages to catch! Linus goes with me to the barn every day to see my horse Lad and they both share a special bond as well as Linus being very horse savvy. He is such a goodwill ambassador for the breed; everyone that comes in contact with him absolutely loves him! When he meets people he greets them with a soft kiss on the hand and his wiggle bum and tail are in constant motion. He’s such a happy dog; at age seven he acts more like a two year old, you should see his collection of stuff animals which he knows all by name and will retrieve if you ask him to get a particular stuff animal.

I just want to say thanks to the many dedicated hard working volunteers at NERR&R for doing such a great job with such a wonderful breed. We will definitely adopt another Rottie from NERR&R when the time comes.

Maya #1359 was adopted by Frank & Gemma of Chelmsford, MA

Hello! It's me Maya, a.k.a. Frieda! It's been almost 3 weeks since I've moved in with my forever family, and I am settling in comfortably! I really LOVE my new home and my new name :-) I get LOTS of attention from mommy, daddy, my human brother and my human sister. I love my beds....yes, beds....I have two....a memory foam bed for traveling and a king size bed for sleeping. I also have lots of toys to play with in my BIG yard. I am fed well (still on California Natural) and I also get treats for when I am good, which is ALL the time....especially when I chase away the critters (i.e. rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, etc.) that trespass in my yard!

My allergies do not seem to bother me as much as I am not scratching much. I think it also helps that I am never alone....mommy, my brother and my sister are always home. If it is nice out and they have to run a quick errand, I come along too! Otherwise, I stay in my cool home.....we have central air!

Zeus #702 was adopted by John and Claire of New Fairfield, CT

Hi....My name is ZEUS Villa....I was adopted from rescue in 2000, my mom and dad had just lost their first rottie and decided they couldn't live without another in their home. They came to see me and my littermates and I decided I wanted them for my family and sat in front of 'MOM' all the time they were visiting....IT WORKED... I love to go for long car rides, mom took the middle seat out of her van and made me a LARGE foam pad and I have the whole back all to myself when we go on vacations or for rides.Did you know that you can go to most motels and people always welcome me and ooh and ahh over how well behaved I am? Mom and Dad have a lot of little people who come to visit all the time ,they call them grandchildren and great grandchildren, all I know is that they play with me and sneak me treats and I am still trying to remember to sit still and not become too excited when I see them .It is hard and I have to remember I am a big boy ...145 lbs...so I just wiggle and wag what they say is my rump. " I love People"....Mom thinks I am so super smart,I love to sing with the TV ads and her stereo and sometimes she has to mute them so she can talk on the phone,I guess i am pretty loud when I sing, all our neighbors know my voice. Mom and dad are so good to me and I try to always be on my best behavior because most new friends are a little afraid of my size and my breed but once they meet me they see how gentle I am.. I'm so glad I picked them to be my 'PEOPLE'.

Brody #1311 was adopted by Nina (NERR&R Volunteer) and Brian of Oak Ridge, NJ

Here's a picture of Brody #1311 and his big brother Blitz. Brody has settled in nicely and become a wonderful addition to our family. The boys are best of friends!
